About Peb
It is assumed that the fort's name, Peb, came from the 'Goddess Pebi' at its base.
According to historical texts, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj used the fort's caves as
grain silos.
The cave on the fort is held by Swami Samarth's disciples, a great saint. They have
contributed significantly to the development of this fort over the last ten years.
They were effective in keeping the cave and fort clean while also maintaining the
dignity of the Peb fort. Meditation caverns are underground and around this cave.
The caverns are still in superb shape. One must crawl into these, and only one man
may enter at a time.
During the monsoon, two of these are filled with water. We can reach the summit
by climbing the fort's wall; there are some remnants on top. The primary feature is
the bastion at the summit. Bastion faces Matheran Mountain. Here we can observe
the ridge that connects Matheran and Peb mountains. When we stand here, we feel
like we're on top of the world.
A temple to a deity is located on the other side of the fortress. This is a large
cistern. The disciples are building a good temple here. We can stay here for some
time. The primary attraction here is a magnificent waterfall along the road. The
surrounding area appears beautiful from the cave.
